CookieFast enables fast access to global cookie settings or site cookie permissions, for Firefox and Thunderbird, in a small footprint. On mouse hover over the toolbar button or alt-k keyboard command, a doorhanger panel opens. The panel combines all cookie management functionality, currently spread over several different places, in one convenient interface. In most cases, global settings or per site/domain permissions can be changed with 1 click. The core Privacy (Fx) and Web Content (Tb) windows Show Cookies and Show Exceptions can be quickly opened as well. Use Customize... to add the toolbarbutton wherever you like.
The button shows three cookie states, based on the current active tab's url:
If CookieFast is disabled (menuitem is checked), the button will appear with reduced opacity, but will still allow menu access and reflect whether cookies are being blocked, as above.
- Red: cookies are blocked; even if CookieFast is disabled, sites with an explicit block exception continue to be blocked.
- Green: the site is allowed to set cookies; either CookieFast is disabled or the site has an explicit allow exception.
- Grey: the site is not a web page (http or https).
For Thunderbird, CookieFast is useful when viewing feed web pages, or opening web page links in content tabs with extensions like ThunderBrowse or TotalMessage.
CookieFast is based on refactored code from the excellent Cookie Whitelist, with Buttons by Alexander Dietrich.
